La scuola si presenta:
L’Istituto magistrale “E.Palumbo” di Brindisi nasce nel 1939, dodici anni dopo che Brindisi era stata elevata a capoluogo di provincia. All’inizio dell’anno scolastico 1970/71 si trasferisce in via A.Grandi assumendo l’attuale denominazione di “Ettore Palumbo”. Dall’anno scolastico 2010/2011 entra in vigore la riforma della scuola del Ministro Gelmini e l’ex Istituto Magistrale ed ex Liceo Socio-Psico-Pedagogico diventa il Liceo delle Scienze Umane.
Obiettivo di questo liceo è quello di approfondire la cultura liceale dal punto di vista della conoscenza dei fenomeni collegati alla costruzione dell’identità personale e delle relazioni umane e sociali.
Il Liceo deve preparare sia gli studenti che vogliono continuare gli studi dopo l’Esame di Stato, iscrivendosi ad una facoltà universitaria, che quelli che vogliono inserirsi subito nel mondo del lavoro. Gli studenti possono scegliere, altresì, l’opzione Economico-Sociale, che permette di valorizzare la qualità degli apprendimenti piuttosto che la quantità delle materie, facendo entrare a regime le sperimentazioni.
Nell’opzione economico-sociale sono infatti previste le seguenti diversificazioni rispetto al Liceo delle Scienze Umane tradizionale: incremento delle ore di matematica, fisica e scienze; potenziamento delle lingue straniere e delle discipline giuridiche ed economiche.
Interpretando le esigenze del territorio e volendo favorire una migliore fruizione dell’Istituto è stata aperta una succursale nel comune di Latiano la cui attività ha preso avvio nell’anno scolastico 2008\9.
Il percorso del liceo delle scienze umane è indirizzato allo studio delle teorie esplicative dei fenomeni collegati alla costruzione dell’identità personale e delle relazioni umane e sociali. Guida lo studente ad approfondire ed a sviluppare le conoscenze e le abilità ed a maturare le competenze necessarie per cogliere la complessità e la specificità dei processi formativi. Assicura la padronanza dei linguaggi, delle metodologie e delle tecniche di indagine nel campo delle scienze umane.
Il percorso del liceo linguistico è indirizzato allo studio di più sistemi linguistici e culturali. Guida lo studente ad approfondire e a sviluppare le conoscenze e le abilita, a maturare le competenze necessarie per acquisire la padronanza comunicativa di tre lingue, oltre l’italiano e per comprendere criticamente l’identità storica e culturale di tradizioni e civiltà diverse.
Per le classi del triennio del liceo linguistico e del liceo economico-sociale si prevedono viaggi studio all’estero: INGHILTERRA, SPAGNA, GERMANIA, FRANCIA. Le classi dei trienni del liceo delle scienze umane ed economico sociale potranno effettuare degli stage presso Enti e/o Istituzioni che svolgono attività coerenti con il corso di studi.
