Il rettore dell’Università di Siena nel consiglio direttivo di “Sustainable Development Solutions Network”
Primo meeting a New York il 27 e 28 novembre 2012
Prenderà ufficialmente il via con il primo meeting che si terrà a New York il 27 e 28 novembre 2012 il nuovo network dell’Onu diretto dall’economista Jeffrey D. Sachs, nato con l’obiettivo di individuare soluzioni per lo sviluppo sostenibile.
Del consiglio direttivo, formato da esperti di economia, ambiente, esponenti di organismi che si occupano di sviluppo, provenienti da ogni regione del mondo, fa parte il rettore dell’Università di Siena, Angelo Riccaboni, uno dei due membri italiani, insieme a Paolo Scaroni, presidente dell’Eni.
Il Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), come spiega Riccaboni, “è stato promosso nei mesi scorsi dall’Onu per individuare soluzioni concretamente realizzabili nell’ambito dello sviluppo sostenibile. Ritengo questo un importante riconoscimento per l’Ateneo, ottenuto grazie al lavoro che viene svolto su questi temi, in particolare attraverso Nesso, la nostra rete interna di ricerca sulla sostenibilità, e per aver adottato la sostenibilità ambientale, sociale ed economica tra le priorità della nostra Università”.
Il professor Riccaboni parteciperà al meeting della prossima settimana, durante il quale verranno tracciate le linee generali dell’agenda di lavoro che il nuovo organismo dovrà compiere, verranno individuate le tematiche e alcune iniziative sulle quali sarà focalizzato l’impegno a livello globale, verranno selezionati infine alcuni primi obiettivi che il network intenderà raggiungere.
Il Sustainable Development Solution Network mira a dare supporto agli esperti impegnati nel mondo intorno ai temi della sostenibilità, individuare le priorità che emergono a livello mondiale su queste tematiche, individuare soluzioni valide che possono accelerare il progresso verso lo sviluppo sostenibile, ma che al momento non sono adottate su larga scala. Il Network mira infine a costituire un centro mondiale di studi con università, centri di ricerca, organizzazioni di cittadini e imprese per accelerare l’individuazione di soluzioni per la sostenibilità nello sviluppo locale, nazionale e globale.
“Durante questo primo incontro – ha concluso il professor Riccaboni – saranno precisate le linee di azione lungo le quali l’Università di Siena potrà dare il suo apporto”.
